General Secretary SCOTTISH CHRISTIAN ALLIANCE
For Rev. Victor Robert Farrell
Date :- 1997
I have known Rob for around 18 years. I first met him when he was in the Royal Navy on Submarines, and my wife and I were running a serviceman’s centre for the Royal Sailors Rests in Rosyth. He came to me full up with conviction of his own sin and wanted relief- he was pointed to Christ and repented of his sins and set out to serve him in the Navy. During this time his wife Bridget also made a profession of faith and became part of the Christian Naval Wife scene whilst Rob was away on patrol. After our paths divided we worked together at Calvary Evangelical church, Brighton, where I was Pastor. Over the years I have watched as Rob has been tested and passed through many difficult circumstances, many of these are expressed in his books of poems. He bore these well and kept a strong hold on his family throughout, and not only that he kept a consistent daily walk with the Lord and a willing spirit where ever he could minister. His ability to handle the word is evident and his particular gift at describing situations and making the bible live in the mind of those who hear him is first class, this has endeared him to younger people in particular. He is also an evangelist and has gentle and easy way with people; able to draw alongside them where they are and do it in a natural manner putting over the truth of the gospel- this is a great asset in any small community situation. Doctrinally Rob is a true evangelical holding to the faith once delivered and has not compromised this position over the years but has held to the faith with a cheerful and determined sprit. His heart is in ministry and he has a lot of energy, passion and vision for the work of the Lord. I suppose the real test is to answer the question whether or not I would sit under Rob’s ministry, or would want him as a fellow labourer in the gospel- the answer to both of these questions is a definite yes. To be quite candid I know of no better man that I would like to have standing with me in the gospel. In conclusion, but is very much a man and only a man, but in my opinion the very best of men. I can only highly commend him to you.
